We've streamlined the admission process for the UIC online MBA to help you get started quickly and easily. Please read the requirements for the MBA – HR Management Online, including what additional materials you need and where you should send them.

Admission Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited college or university
  • No GMAT required
  • 3.0 GPA*

Applicants to the Online MBA will need to meet the following admissions requirements.

  • Bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited university, or equivalent for graduates of universities outside of the U.S.
  • Official transcripts of previous university coursework
  • A cumulative GPA of 3.0/4.0 or better
    • *Applicants below a 3.0/4.0 will still be considered for admission
  • Complete an application online and pay a $70 nonrefundable application fee
  • Professional resume
  • Two letters of recommendation
  • Statement of Purpose, addressing the following:
    • What strengths and attributes will you bring to the program? (250 word maximum)
    • What professional experiences have led you to determine that business school is the right next step, and what are your career aspirations after business school? (250 word maximum)
    • Optional question: Is there anything not addressed elsewhere in the application that you would like the Admissions Committee to know about you to evaluate your candidacy? (250 word maximum)
  • International applicants or domestic applicants whose university/college studies were done outside the United States may be required to submit proof of English proficiency

For the purposes of application review, applicants must upload requested materials only through the application checklist. Sealed, official paper credentials will be requested only from applicants who have been offered admission and intend to enroll.

Paper credentials received for applications without a final decision may not be processed.


For summer 2024 and fall 2024, all applicants (domestic and international) to the Master of Business Administration (MBA) program are waived of the GMAT/GRE requirement. The waiver applies to all formats of study: Online MBA, Flexible MBA part-time or full-time. If you plan to utilize the waiver, you can bypass the GRE/GMAT section on the application.

If you plan to submit GMAT or GRE scores, please upload your score report in your application portal. If you plan to take the GMAT or GRE at a later date, please indicate the test date on your application and send your official scores to UIC.

Submitting competitive GMAT/GRE scores may increase your chances of admission and being awarded merit aid.

This course focuses on the theory of corporate finance: goal of the firm, time value of money, investment decisions (under certainty and uncertainty), net present value, capital markets, and corporate financing decisions. Staffing, training and development; historical evolution of personnel policies, modern labor force and technological trends; supervision, salary administration, human resource research and utilization. This course is an examination of topics related to recruiting, selecting, motivating, retaining, training, developing, and separating employees; and human resource metrics, measurement, and information systems. Restricted to graduate students enrolled in the College of Business Administration. Prerequisite(S): MGMT 541 and MGMT 553.
