Qualifications for our Online MBA in Management program
We've streamlined the admission process for the UIC online MBA to help you get started quickly and easily. Please read the requirements for the MBA – Management Online, including what additional materials you need and where you should send them.
Admission Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited college or university
- Official transcripts
- 3.0 GPA*
Applicants to the Online MBA will need to meet the following admissions requirements.
- Bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited university, or equivalent for graduates of universities outside of the U.S.
- Official transcripts of previous university coursework
- A cumulative GPA of 3.0/4.0 or better
- *Applicants below a 3.0/4.0 will still be considered for admission. Any decisions are contingent upon qualifications that may include GMAT/GRE scores and/or additional work experience.
- For applicants who want to waive the GMAT/GRE, a waiver request must be submitted, preferably before submitting your application. Each waiver request is granted on a case-by-case basis. For those not granted a GMAT/GRE waiver, either the GMAT or GRE exam must be taken for the application to be reviewed. UIC Business does not have a preference for the GMAT or GRE.
- Applicants with two years or more of significant, full-time post-bachelor’s work experience and/or a master’s/terminal degree as evaluated by the UIC Business admissions review committee are strong candidates for the GMAT/GRE waiver
- Two years or more of post-graduate, professional work experience by the start of the program is required for admission. If you have concerns about meeting the work experience requirement, please contact an enrollment specialist to see if you qualify
- Two years or more of military service can also qualify for the work experience requirement
- Complete an application online and pay a $70 nonrefundable application fee
- Professional resume
- Two letters of recommendation
- Statement of Purpose, addressing the following:
- What strengths and attributes will you bring to the program? (250 word maximum)
- What professional experiences have led you to determine that business school is the right next step, and what are your career aspirations after business school? (250 word maximum)
- Optional question: Is there anything not addressed elsewhere in the application that you would like the Admissions Committee to know about you to evaluate your candidacy? (250 word maximum)
- International applicants or domestic applicants whose university/college studies were done outside the United States may be required to submit proof of English proficiency

FIN 500: Introduction to Corporate Finance

This course focuses on the theory of corporate finance: goal of the firm, time value of money, investment decisions (under certainty and uncertainty), net present value, capital markets, and corporate financing decisions. IDS 532: Introduction to Operations Management

This course focuses on the management of operations for the production and delivery of goods and services. Topics include the management of business processes, projects, production, supply chain, inventory, quality, lay out and job design.
MGMT 541: Organizational Behavior

This course focuses on the organization as a social system. Topics include leadership, interpersonal effectiveness, group behavior, managing change, conflict management, motivation and behavior, and interpersonal communications.
MKTG 500: Introduction to Marketing

This course focuses on client/consumer behavior and the way institutions respond to such behavior through the planning, pricing, promotion, and distribution of goods and services.
MBA 570: Enterprise Strategy

This course is a capstone course for MBA students which provides frameworks and decision tools to integrate prior course work in a set of analytic and problem solving efforts to address the strategies and enterprise level challenges of firms. Prerequisite(s): Open only to Master's degree students. Completion of the all other core courses in the MBA Program. This course should be taken during the final semester in the program.

MGMT 564: Negotiations

Credit Hours: 4
This course focuses on the study of strategies and techniques for successful agreement negotiation and business conflict resolution. Includes applications to classic situations such as collective bargaining, interpersonal relations, and stakeholder concerns. Credit is not given for MGMT 564 if the student has credit for MGMT 594. Special topics: Negotiations. Prerequisite(s): MGMT 541.

This course focuses on the theory and practice of investment analysis. Topics included are the institutional organization of security markets, and fundamental principles of asset valuation with application to specific securities. Prerequisite(s): FIN 500.
FIN 520: Corporate Finance

This course explores advanced topics in corporate finance including capital structure, dividend policy, financial restructuring, bankruptcy, and leasing. Emphasis on recent developments in corporate finance and financial economics. Prerequisite(s): FIN 500.

This course is an examination of topics related to recruiting, selecting, motivating, retaining, training, developing, and separating employees; and human resource metrics, measurement, and information systems. Restricted to graduate students enrolled in the College of Business Administration. Prerequisite(S): MGMT 541 and MGMT 553.
MGMT 568: Compensation Administration

This course focuses on compensation theory policies and practices, including job analysis and evaluation, compensation surveys, wage and salary structures, merit and incentive compensation employee benefits and pension plans.
